Angels,
Saints and Other
Biblical Works
"Most the pieces in this body of
work have been created since 2005. I became intrigued by my
research on Angels, Saints and Martyrs for an exhibit in
Holland, Michigan in 2007.
"My first works in this series
began with the Angel Gabriel. I discovered in my research that
Gabriel appears in three major religions: Christianity, Judaism
and Islam. I have painted three pieces of Gabriel, one for each
religion. My purpose in showing Gabriel in three lights is to
make people realize that everyone looks at life differently, yet
there is a connection between all people. These paintings set
the tone for my exploration into different biblical and saintly
people, allowing my spiritual side to influence my works.
"Since the exhibit in 2007, I have
continued exploring other biblical themes, doing research on a
passage in the Bible and allowing prayer and thought to guide
me." - Angie Nagle Miller
